[1] Structure Introduction

[2]Material Introduction

2507 is a type of super duplex stainless steel material.

1. Chemical composition

• C：≤ 0.03%. The low carbon content helps improve the welding performance and corrosion resistance of the material and reduces the risk of intergranular corrosion.

• S： ≤ 0.8%.

• Mn： ≤ 1.2%.

• Cr： 24% - 26%. The high chromium content gives the material good corrosion resistance and can form a stable chromium oxide protective film to resist the erosion of various corrosive media.

• Ni： 6% - 8%. The nickel element helps improve the toughness and ductility of the material and also enhances its corrosion resistance in some corrosive environments.

• Mo： 3% - 5%. The addition of molybdenum significantly improves the material's resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion by corrosive media such as chloride ions.

• N： 0.24% - 0.32%. The nitrogen element can increase the strength and corrosion resistance of the material and stabilize the ratio of austenite and ferrite phases.

• S： ≤ 0.02%, and the phosphorus (P) content is ≤ 0.035%. The low contents of sulfur and phosphorus can reduce the brittleness of the material and improve its toughness and welding performance.

2. Performance characteristics

• Excellent corrosion resistance: It has a strong resistance to various corrosive media, including organic acids, inorganic acids, chlorides, etc. In chloride-ion-containing environments, such as seawater, brine, and corrosive media in chemical processes, it shows excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking.

• High strength: It has a higher tensile strength and yield strength than ordinary austenitic stainless steel and some low alloy steels. This enables 2507 stainless steel to be used in manufacturing structural components and equipment that withstand high stress.

• Good toughness and ductility: It can maintain good toughness and ductility at both low and high temperatures and is suitable for various harsh working environments.

• Good welding performance: It can be welded by various welding methods, such as manual arc welding, argon arc welding, submerged arc welding, etc. The welded joint has good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.

• Wear resistance: In some wear environments, 2507 stainless steel also shows good wear resistance, which can extend the service life of equipment.

3. Application fields

• Petroleum and gas industry: It is used in offshore oil platforms, submarine pipelines, oil and gas transportation pipelines, wellhead equipment, etc., and can withstand corrosion and high pressure in the marine environment.
